So, this morning a white package was plopped into my mailbox address to me from the JET Desk at the Miami Consulate.
I already knew what it was so I ripped the envelope open, pulled out the goods, and did a little jig. Finally the books and dvd to ease my family have arrived. Now they can read all the materials and hopefully will stop freaking out over my situation. And when I mean my family, I mostly mean my mom who’s just been a neurotic mess.
The GIH has beenĀ availableĀ online since April, so there’s nothing new there. But, for me, it’s nicer to actually have a book to flip through rather than an excessively large PDF that lags my system. I also got a Japanese language handbook that came with a chart and some paperwork regarding insurances and stuff. There’s also a DVD within the GIH that I’ve already seen but my parents haven’t and want to see. They still don’t have an idea on what this is no matter how many times I’ve explained what the JET Program is.
All they know is that it involves me working for the government in some way for the schools.
Ah, today is also the first Q&A session. I’m mainly going to this when to meet my fellow Miami JETs. Majority of our shortlist this year hail from the North Florida area, so it’d be nice to see who’ll be stuck with me on a plane for about 20 hours.
