a merkypie in japan

Arrived and in the package. Now all I need is the application and my second reference letter.

    Hey, so you keep mentioning your reference letters and I am wondering how early you requested them. Last year, you were on the forums and rocking it when I finally joined and I know I had a fiasco of a time when I dealt with my references. So how early do you think is too early for asking for the actual references and transcripts?

      Hi!

      I requested my teacher write my reference back in May. I did this because she’s a busy woman (department chair) and asking her at the 11th hour would have been a fiasco. She didn’t actually write it until like… the end of October, beginning of November. I remember that her reference was holding me back from sending out my application.

      My other reference was a client of mine, a director in a hospital. He was also busy so I had asked him in June.

        Awesome, thank you so much. I asked my references a week or two ago so that I wouldn’t run into people being scary busy and asking at a bad time. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t wicked jumping the gun. Thanks again ^_^

          Just be sure to give them a nudge around application time. They would have probably forgotten. Asking them now is like “blackmailing” xD They’ll have no choice but to write you a letter since they promised 😉

            That was exactly my thought! I have proof that they agreed to write it. Come August, I’ll ask for them to actually write it because both are teachers (one from a high school and my internship adviser and the other a well-respected college professor who works in adolescent literacy), hopefully this will mean that they have the time to write my references early. XD This was what stressed me out the most last time and, now that I’m more prepared, I feel excited about it. Heheh ^^;
