The JET Program is a test of patience. You wait for the application, you wait for interview results, you wait for the interview, you wait for shortlist results, you wait for placement, and you wait for departure.
These are not short periods of waiting too. It’s like a trend of two to three month waiting periods of pure agony.
Needless to say, it’s been almost a week since finding out I’ve been shortlisted and I’m already getting antsy waiting for my placement. XD If things get back on schedule, I should hear back sometime in May of what area in Japan I’ll be moving to (wow, its weird typing that out). In June, I’ll know exactly where I’ll be at.
It’s still surreal. It hasn’t hit me yet. I feel like I’m still in this applicant mind-set because of all the paperwork I have to fill out to secure my spot on the shortlist. I don’t feel like a shortlisted JET and I probably won’t feel like one until I’m actually signing a contract with my CO and I get that package in the mail from my consulate with that big book and other things.
It’s already mid April… Time goes by so fast.
